I got trolled

I've been posting a lot on Facebook recently as I'm trying to raise my profile a bit

And it's obviously working as I'm reaching more people

But with that come people who aren't really a good fit for what I do

This meant that last week I got trolled on one of my videos

It was just a simple video - showing hip circles as a way to ease out your back and hips after sitting for a while

So nothing massively fitness about it and nothing controversial

But this bloke said that if I lost some fat then what I had to say would be more "convenient" - I think he meant convincing

I know it was nonsense and that he is not my target audience

But it still stung a bit

No matter how many times I reassure my kids when mean things are said to them, it's hard to just let it go immediately

So I will bear this in mind next time I'm helping them and not just tell them to ignore it.  Instead I will help them move on from it

The thing is that fitness to me is not about fatness

It was when I first came to exercise - that's what got me started.  I’d moved to America, had no job and no friends.  There were all these TV channels (only 4 in the U.K. at that time!!) and a Dunkin’ Donuts over the road…

I joined a gym to lose weight but actually it did much more.  I met people who helped me find temp work and work as an actor.  And I fell in love with fitness classes which started me on the road I’m now on…

And even now, 25 years on, I’m getting loads of benefits that aren’t about making me smaller - it's more about feeling well, de-stressing, keeping my mobility as I age and staying strong

It's also about the social interaction - I love being able to chat before, after and sometimes during class!

I’ve had two people tell me this week that their mental health had taken a nose-dive since missing a few classes.  They hadn't realised what a difference it made until they missed it

A new classmate said that my session was the most comfortable she had felt in a class in a long time

And I’ve just finished a 1-2-1 session with someone who felt taller, cinched in and more vibrant by the end of it!

It's comments like these that are more important to me than what some random bloke has to say

If you would like to come to a class where you are accepted just as you are and want to get a myriad of health benefits - I would love to welcome you!  Just message me and let me know which class you would like to try for free
